Jason R. Moffitt grew up in Atlanta, Ga with both his parents James L. Moffitt Jr and Sandra C. Moffitt and brother Mario Moffitt. He attended Alabama A&M University and after two years transferred to Morris Brown College when his son Jason R. Moffitt II was born. Accepting his responsibilities as a father, he continued with his education and received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Psychology at Morris Brown College, Masters of Arts degree from Clark Atlanta University, Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling from Jacksonville State University with an add-on certification in Educational Leadership and his Doctorate in Education from Georgia Southern University. Dr. Moffitt is a 2024 graduate of the Public Finance Leadership Academy (PFLA) program. The Academy, a partnership between the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, equips new and emerging public-sector financial management leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully manage and communicate at all levels of government.
Being a great communicator but better listener and being compassionate about mental health allowed him to work extensively in the mental health profession at various hospitals and mental health clinics while conducting research at Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University lead him to work with at-risk youth which later lead to his career in education.
Real-life experiences he encountered while working as an administrator in economically disadvantaged schools encouraged Dr. Jason R. Moffitt to write Jay’s story. Recognizing the need to develop the whole child has allowed him to relive and recreate those experiences in exchange for re-teaching, modeling and character development. His true passion is securing the future of the world through character development in youth.
Jason R. Moffitt is married to Mia Moffitt with two kids, Jason R. Moffitt II and Jada R. Moffitt. He continues to work in education as an administrator in Atlanta, Ga where he gives back to youth through his mentoring program Bow Tie Boys’ Club (BBC) and being a servant leader to all.
